Hello RHJ, considering your post you are staying busy & therefore happy. That's good to know. Other than the occasional equipment (older trucks we new hires get) I'm happy a well. Hope to see you soon.

We go everywhere, EXCEPT CALIFORNIA. The older trucks new hires get aren't the best. Trailers are in good condition, even the older ones.

Got home Thursday evening after 18 days on the road. A day & a half spent at Freightliner in Denver to repair the EGR valve. I ran 7500 miles & 8 extra stops.

When I got to the yard Thursday I turned truck into the shop for a PM then left for home. ( I keep my personal vehicle at Poly ) I called the shop Friday afternoon to check progress of PM. Was told the PM was done but the front brakes needed to be changed ( cracked lining ) & a DOT inspection had to be done. The DOT inspection has to wait till Monday because the only guy certified to perform this task is off till then.

I hope it will be ready early Monday morning because I want to back on the road by Monday late morning or early afternoon. I did receive a call from outbound dispatch Friday late afternoon asking if I could cover a Grand Prairie to Buffalo,NY run that delivered Monday morning. Unfortunately with truck in the shop & me in SA I had to decline. Be that as it may, I do expect a good run leaving sometime Monday.

Delivered my outbound in Beaverton OR. and Kent WA. Did a 34hr to get back some hours. My backhaul picked up in Summer Wa and has 3 stops: West Valley UT, San Antonio TX, and Cedar Park TX. Once I final out, I'm going to request a load home. It's time to go visit Mama for awhile!

At what point do they trade trucks at Poly. Is it a set age or mileage like @ Crete, or when it starts spending more time in the shop than on the road?

The send them out at 750k miles. They don't trade them. They sell them to whoever. I heard talk they are sent south of the border or over seas. I don't know that for a fact.

Yes, they are hiring. Don't bother trying to call them. They seem to only respond to emails until you submit your application, which can be found & downloaded at their web-site. They will only return phone calls only after they contact you.

JD, thanks for taking the time to answer all these questions. I find it interesting that you and a couple of others left Crete for Poly. I applied to Crete a couple months ago and was accepted but I had a lot of doubts about passing their physical. Does Poly do anything like Crete does as in all that weight lifting? I've never had any trouble doing my job, but don't feel that I could lift 70 lbs chest high.

If they require you to chain if you go out west, will someone teach me how to do it? :biggrin_25523: Been really, really lucky in all my years of trucking and have never had to do it. But haven't been to the NW in years and really miss it.

Thanks again for all the good info. Printed out the application today.

During the physical you will be required to lift a 70lbs create & walk with it. And if you chose ( no force dispatch )to take a load going west you are required to throw iron.
