Since I didn't sign up for it I didn't retain that info in my little noggin. Give me a week & I'll get you the correct info. I can say that for a family of four the medical premiums are $110 per week. I also remember it is a co-pay insurance, but the co-pay was low & there is no deductible. Vision & dental is extra a I'll find out what the premiums are for those.
any info on Poly Trucking?

I finished my last run this past thursday afternoon & had to wait till saturday for my next load. It was supposed to have been ready at 0900 saturday but wasn't ready till 1900 that night. In order to keep the delivery schedule I had planned I had to go to night shift. Don't like doing that, but it was my decision. The current run is a four stop mom & pop (this just means there are no DC deliveries & the driver is responsible for calling the customers to set delivery times). First stop was this morning in downtown Pittsburgh, & it was surprisingly not difficult to get to or out of the area. Drive right next to Heinz Field &PNC Stadium & found the area quite truck friendly. I'm now in Somerset,PA taking my break before heading to Avenel,NJ for tomorrow morning & Brandford,CT tomorrow afternoon. I will make final delivery in Tyngsboro,MA wednesday morning. I will find out my backhaul info tomorrow afternoon, but as it stands I should be back in the DFW area by saturday morning with approximately 3700 miles & 4 extra stops, which will give me a gross pay of $1900.

So I gather from your posts that Poly is an out and back company...you haul out their product and pull something back to TX, pick up some more of their product and roll to somewhere else. None of this bounce around the country before getting back to TX like Crete, correct?
-
For the most part that is correct. Especially if you go to Florida. I do know there are occasional runs from the NW to the NE & then back to TX. I've even heard of a driver being on the same run for a month before going back to TX. He was going from Denver to SC & back.loading & reloading at the same warehouse on both ends. So it could happen that you may occasionally not have a direct return load.

I just gave Crete my 2 week notice. I will be flying down to Dallas 3/19 to attend orientation at Poly. Thank you JD for turning me on to this job. My parting with Crete is positive and I hope my tenure at Poly will be even more so!
jdrentzjr, Dark_Majesty_06 and supersnackbar Thank this. -
I hope you will add your experiences to the thread when you get there. I'm waiting to apply. I had only worked at Glen Moore for 2 months when Celadon bought them out, so I want to stay here for a while to avoid looking like a job hopper. But from what I've read so far, Poly is top of the list when I am ready to go elsewhere.

How long did it take from application to approval. Just trying to work out the timing because I am going on vacation the end of next month when my daughter is scheduled to have my grandson(unless he comes early like his sister). I was going to get all my ducks lined up as far as employment dates and company phone numbers then. That way, all the info on the app is right the 1st time so I can make a quick and seamless transition myself.
-
I applied 1/30 and got a call from them a little over a week later. I could have started earlier than I am, but had to plan around my trip schedule at Crete to fly down for initial interview and then give my 2 weeks notice.

hey JG, per diem is quite simple..
You are allowed $59.00 per day.
Your deduction is $59.00 per day without taxes due. Anything above $59.00 per day, you the driver, and the company are liable for payroll taxes.
Has nothing to do with the 80% reduction on the form.
The company can pay you up to $59.00 per day, and you will owe no taxes on that amount.
In typical government logic, you only get to claim a reduction of $47.20 per day, but you do not owe taxes on the $11.80.
clear as mud nowJimBob24 Thanks this. -
did poly fly you in for the interview, or did you provide your own just to make it easier?
