    Please read post #2 every day between now and orientation, then twice a day until you hit the road.

    All of the above is good advice/info.....but I would add the following....

    Your main goal during your training (and beyond) is: DON'T HIT ANYTHING.

    You are allowed to hit the rubber bumper stops that are in place at all loading docks (duuuhhh -- that's what they are for), but past that....you really want to avoid hitting anything else.

    Whenever in any doubt about it -- get out and look ("G-O-A-L"). If your training is any good at all -- you will hear this, again.

    ~~~~~
    Also -- think about the bigger, long-term picture here.....for a moment or two.
    The first-year "washout" rate for new drivers is somewhere in the range of 80-90%.
    Unless you're truly in this for the "long haul" (no pun intended, this time) -- what you're about to do is pretty much a waste of time, money....and effort.
    Thus -- make up your mind now.....that once you start down this path -- that you're "in it to win it".
    There will be many times that you finish your workday as a first-year driver.....and you will realize why many other drivers throw in the towel, and quit.
    DON'T BE ONE OF THOSE OTHER DRIVERS.
    "The race goes not to the swift -- or to the strong -- but to those who KEEP RUNNING"
    Don't divulge any unnecessary info about yourself to others in the class or instructors. You're in the door, they liked everything they saw about you, keep it that way.
    Most places have a “Do not drink” rule on orientation since they’re paying for room and everything, they’re considering you’re on their time.
    a few do surprise alcohol and drug tests again during orientations
