I rode the dog in July 2011 from Allentown, PA (via NYC and Philly) to Dallas, TX. We had an unscheduled stop somewhere in Maryland to remove the guy who overdosed on the rearmost seat. At the Stop in North Carolina, near the RJR plant, we were boarded by a bunch of Troopers who bodily pinned three brothers in the aisle and carried them off the bus. In Alabama, another guy attempted to kick out the window and was quickly tied to his seat by 3 marines who had boarded in North Carolina. The rest of the trip was uneventful. Travel time-- 2:30 PM Thursday to 6:50 PM Sunday. Memories.....Ahhhh!

Guess it depends how bad you need a job and/or how broke you are. Maybe take a job close to home or get your own butt there. I think it’s kinda dumb that the company has to pay your way anyway.

One of the biggest problems with crackhound is no sleep. I am like the absolute worst passenger ever. There was one driver with a Bus from the Capitol in Silver Spring Greyhound up 270 to Frederick as a first stage of her route I think to Breezewood. (I wonder if that 76 is still standing..) anyway... This one driver must have been a trucker at some point in life because she settle that bus on the sweet spot on the engine and did not touch the shifting or airbrakes hardly.

It was a very good hour of sleep. As soon she dumped the horsies for braking, that's it for the sleep.

My current company offered a bus ticket. I asked if I could rent a car or fly and they would reimburse price of the ticket. I took the plane. Cost $100 out of my pocket but is so worth it not having to deal with the bus.

It was a good way to meet hippy chicks back in the 80s.

Drove my own car, and they reimbursed my fuel costs. No way I'd get on the hound.
