Yep! Safely. It all doesn't mean anything unless it is performed safely.
Of which something I noticed yesterday about the I-77 pile-up in Virginia at the NC line........ 75 car pile up with 3 deaths............ In the photographs I saw there were at least two USA trucks involved. One was damaged, another appeared unhurt. The one truck may have had fire damage to the tractor.
Be safe and good luck to us all

Just confirmed my arrangements with USA for April 3 orientation. I had been away over the weekend and missed their calls. Nope. I turn off the cell phone sometimes when in good company. I should be in Dayton/Vandalia Tuesday afternoon........... Another step closer.
-
Update:
I connected with my trainer April 5 in Vandalia and have drove quite a bit beginning April 6........ Cincinnati to Laredo; Laredo to Kansas City; and Kansas City to Laredo. Tomorrow we head for Montgomery. Driving long hours without stops is commonplace - 8 to 10 hours is not unusual. Backing into strange situations is commonplace. Learning new protocals is commonplace. Eating healthy is a challenge but achieveable.
The training received at C1 is only good for obtaining a CDL. The real training begins after you leave C1. Be brave, yet safe, and have an open mind. Stuff will be pouring in on you to absorb.
Good luck! -
....... Laredo to Montgomery..... to Birmingham...... to New Orleans..... to Orlando...... To Jacksonville...... to Charlotte..... to Alentown, PA..... and to Buffalo tomorrow. No balls. No strikes. No reset...... although at one point I was two hours short of having a reset. That trainer decision made no sense.
My shifting is exponentially improved. Backing needs work but is coming up in quality.
First trainer was polite overall and a very good driver but lacked a few turns of the screw in being an instructor. My new (second phase) trainer is much better at instructing and offers some of the stuff I need in sorting out my backing woes. The first guy left me well short in driving hours so, I'll need to gather up 1st phase hours to get the team stuff going. I am disappointed with the first guy but the second one seems ready to compensate for any shortcomings.
With my driving hours quickly drying up with the 1st guy it may take until well after May 1 to get home. For this, I am very disappointed. But reality is, I had very little backup opportunities until I got with my second trainer....... and backing appears to be many driver's shortfall. We even stopped and had a 45 minute backup marathon using a couple USA trailers as guinea pigs. LOL
Another observation...... many USA trailers are junk (more or less). But for now we are pulling a newer model and it makes an appreciable difference.
over and out -
Buffalo to Chicago...... Chicago to Philly....... Philly to New Orleans (tomorrow).
Looking forward to testing out and going home to walk on the ground; have a shower two days in a row; and eat home cooking. A shower (and having the time to take one) now has new meaning.
Be safe. -
...... up to Jersey with a preplan to Detroit monday er somethin'. Kinda punch drunk (wink)
The plan is to try having me routed to test and get my own truck and go solo mid week or so.
Like the guy said........ WHEWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!
Three weeks away from home and the dogs get excited when they hear my name and the wife likes me again. LOL Oh, yeah..... I got two phone calls wanting to setup interviews for desk jobs. Desk jobs ain't all that. My trainers say I need my head examined. (looks okay to me)
Be safe -

Good for you Tom...... My trainer threw a rod today. I believe he may have lost his mind.......... Seriously. USA sent an empty trailer driver to Jersey to pick me up then rode me down to Carlisle. Managers have been apologizing all day long. They put me in a hotel and i get a new ride Monday for finishing up my training. USA has been nice but this stuff today leaps to the top of FREAKY. And no, it wasn't my driving. LOL I set you up for that one but had to take it down.
I have 125 hours and this guy self destructs!!!!!!!! Three more days and I'm in. Crappo!
I lost my mind once but went to Sears and got a new one. This guy could not spell Sears. He was gone far away. La La La La La La Land.
