Pilot/J and TA add something themselves. There is usually pallets of it sitting around. Sometimes a pile by fill points. In the summer the pallets will shoved in a corner somewhere with faded cardboard hanging all over. I didn’t note what areas I saw this at but it was eastern half of US. I always assumed it was antigel.

I refuse to use the one in Gary, IN, and I’m sticking to my guns..

Diesel could move towards $7 a gallon over the next few weeks. That’s a game changer. I’m not sure. My company could survive with the cheap freight they haul.

Price of fuel is going to get ugly that's for sure.

Everyone is doubting you, but I tend to believe there are differences depending on where you buy fuel. I'm buying totally what you're selling. Kwik Trip is concentrated in states that have extreme cold temps. The fuel in cold weather states is treated differently than in warm weather states, regardless of truck stop. Some years back, I bought fuel in South Carolina and went up to Michigan, way up there too, by Benzonia. In Cadillac, the fuel gelled. When the mechanic came out to me, he explained that the fuel down south is treated for temps no lower than around 10°. He explained to me that I need to have filled up with fuel once I got to a cold weather state to prevent that from happening. I've done that each winter since. To be fair, I haven't tried it in temps that cold but I know if fill up in say Wisconsin and don't add additive, I'd be fine at least to temps slightly below 0. I definitely can say fuel is different depending on region. If I remember correctly, Kwik Trip has a winter blend fuel as well. Fuel Mart in Ohio does too.

The fuel from the rack has to be treated for the average temperature of the region. Some places like the Town Pumps or Kwik Trip will have winter blends that are better than what’s being sold at other places if it’s going to get extremely cold. Even if you just get what they have at any truckstop up north in the winter your truck should be fine unless the temps are really dropping and you turn your truck off.
cke, D.Tibbitt and bryan21384 Thank this. -
