This isn't true, I had a minimum of 2 weeks outta North Carolina home state. Depends on where you live.

If you were in Florida or Cali or western states I've heard it was much harder to get home. More weeks out required.

You lived in mid west, easy to get home. They're based in Joliet IL, western suburb of Chicago basically. I only had problems getting home once. I lived about 800 miles from HQ.

I spent good amount of time in the chicago area. But I put my foot down and told them day 1 I'm not doing any loads that required me to go inside the inner city (inside 294 or 290 ish). I took one load from inside that zone once because I really wanted to get home quickly one time on short notice. Nightmare but got it done.

I know that they are VERY STRICT in their hiring process. You need to have a perfect DMV and good history or they wont hire you. Some folks may get LUCKY and Im sure that there are some folks reading this that have passed through or knows someone who did, but They are one of the most strict carriers out there. I had a 4mph speeding ticket on my DMV for going down a mountain fully loaded and my trailer brakes suffered an in-route failure. Thank GOD I pulsed my brakes going down in conjunction with full EB and was able to come to a stop. Looked behind me and behind all the smoke there was a trooper. He wrote me a ticket!! LMFAO. I had it towed 2 miles away and had the trailer repaired. I retailed a CDL attorney, gave him the RO on the trailer date and time stamped and MD still refused to toss it out!!! CRAZY!!!! Before that I had a perfect 7 year clean DMV. Because of this, GP wouldnt hire me, but its ok. It is what it is. But YEah, theyre strict and I do get it and respect it!

    I'm a hard dude to please,I've been to 17 different companies,in 10years.
All the other companies promised and never delivered.
    Gp pays you for everything,breakdown,weather,detention.
Don't have to fight for it either.
    Never have I felt cheated.
When you call, you always talk to a person, none of this waiting on hold bs.
    Made $80,000 each year here.
    Zero complaints.

I took it for granted when I was there, but they really did compensate fair on a lot of things other companies don't. I remember getting 150 break down added on one check because a PM at HQ caused me to have to pick up a load the next morning instead of that afternoon.

Gp offers incremental weather pay like marten? How does it work, how much, how many obstacles do you have to go thru to get it? Thnx rumors circulating crete / Shaffer/ hunt is going to offer this but I'll believe it when I see it if still there

Lithuanian company, American fleet. Recipe just doesn't ####ing work. My group started with 4 drivers at onboarding... I got wrongful'd for trying to get hometime for my legal name change hearing, one guy got starved out, one got terminated for having a family emergency, and the last guy as of a couple weeks ago was about to resign due to getting starved for miles. Really not a good outfit anymore. There was a golden period a few years ago, but that ship has long since sailed due to mismanagement

Worked there for 2 years, and for the first year I would have told you they were the best company I'd ever worked for. Because they were, truly. But after mid-2021 they started changing things, and since then they've really started failing their drivers. The most worrying issue is their policies regarding your privacy. They make you download their app to your phone, which isn't an issue if you have a second device...but the permissions that app requires are reeeeeeally questionable so do not dl it to your personal device. They have a whole team of app developers in Lithuania that built this app in-house. They know exactly how to skirt around legalities of driver privacy. And do not use the wifi they provide in the truck or at hq. They will absolutely track everything you do: emails, text messages, social media accounts, locations, etc. They work with Samsara and can stream your in-cab cameras at any time, even if they claim they can't (see https://kb.samsara.com/hc/en-us/articles/360042997932-Enable-Audio-Recording). The laws regarding these issues are really lax in the U.S., so keep yourself protected.

I worked for GP Transco for 3.5 years. Overall it was a decent experience but they have gotten pretty bad. 1st year earning was 88k, 2nd year was 98.4k, and 3rd dropped back to 89k. Keep in mind I had zero life and very little home time ( out for 8 weeks ) with reset at home. In my good year I was averaging 3285 week for miles. You will loose a lot of dispatchers, I lost count after the 2nd year but I would say I've had a dozen dispatchers and 5-6 safety managers. Once you found a good one ( there are a few ) they would quit within the coming months. There is a lot of turnover, more than what would be considered normal and nowhere near what they would have you believe. And yes they are based in Lithuania but all spoke pretty good english so it wasn't an issue, after hours ( anything after 4pm ) come out of Columbia and were mostly worthless for any assistance.

    The good ?
I was in a new truck every year but they are not owner op styled equipped, pretty bare bones.
When you did want to go home, it wasn't an issue.
Nice HQ facility but remember they have nearly 600 drivers and only a few showers and 3-4 courtesy cars. So it really was a struggle going to HQ as you were always waiting for a car or a shower/laundry, regardless of how nice it was.
If your truck needs anything, it's fixed without question.
Pet's ? I had a dog travel with me at all times, no deposit or breed restrictions.
Pay ? Always on time and never an issue. Every Friday.
Truck wash at HQ that is a drive thru, or I could go to the beacon whenever I wanted if you had the extra 2 hours to burn.

    The bad ?
You will be constantly bothered by safety. 5 mph over in a zone ? Truck beeps and talks to you thru the samsara camera, or you'll get a phone call.
If there is a break in the solid white line on the road, your truck will buzz and radio will silence for a few seconds. Hugely annoying !!! Basically a lane departure system on the cascadia. You can shut it off but only lasts a few minutes.
Inward facing cameras were an option for me, I declined. But I have witnessed many, many drivers get fired for either having a dirty truck inside, or some other ridiculous thing the camera caught them doing. In my opinion you can keep the .02 cents for the hassle and worry.

They can be extremely petty with regards to safety. And look I get it you want to be safe but they are very stern, to a point you won't want to work for them if your experienced and have developed your habits over 30 plus years of driving.
Trucks are very slow at 67mph. I cannot stop smiling every time I pass one now.
Always a heavy load as they haul A LOT of paper.
Some good accounts such as menards, snap on tool, but the others are paper based with very long load/unload times

If you get a 1000 plus mile run you are very lucky and that' is primarily ONLY the snap on runs out to Reno, NV. Most of the runs are 400 miles with long delays at their horrible accounts.

You will be in Chicago nearly every week with the horrible roads and terrible traffic.

There is a divided vibe at HQ a lot of stuffy, nose in the air, young and entitled between the drivers and other employees. You will feel and see it after the first week. They offer a catered lunch on Friday for the staff, but you'll quickly see it's primarily just for the office people.

Very few people take account of the shape of the equipment. They will simply drop a trailer and leave it was a flat tire, abs light, broken hinges, damage. I cannot even count how much time I had wasted picking up one of their trailers and had to take in to a shop and wasted countless hours. Though on my way out they were implementing some type of penalty for the previous driver holding them somewhat accountable.
Bottom line, if your in the need of a job after all this mentioned it is a good job compared to a lot of other companies. I never had to work for a swift or a prime or mega carrier other than GP Transco. So if your ok with politics, constant bombardment from Safety, short runs with on time pay it's not a bad job for you. I went with a much smaller company. Trucks run 80 mph, no one has ever called me, I'm driving a leathered up Kenworth w900 with heated seats and satellite tv/radio that was new. I get a bit more per mile and my last week ( 8 days using a recap day ) 5122 miles for the week, prior week was 4430. I've been home nearly every weekend for a reset with a beautiful HQ and no brain damage. Needless to say there are far better jobs out there if you look hard enough.
