For some reason this had been in th back of my mind. I could see a problem, but just could not figure out what it was. Well today it hit me. I know whats wrong.
Take a second look at the photo. See the rope going around the back and along the bumper area.
this guy is using an unrated splice in his rope. -
done correctly, the splice would be rated at 100%.
-
It was probably preloaded with no gaps big enough to pass a strap through.
I try to wrap the entire thing with 2 40' straps at least 2x. You throw them over and pass them back under to the same side and it keeps the stack from coming unstacked. Just make sure you do it from both sides each time so you dont pull it over. -
How heavy is this cabinet? That should be the primary factor on how it gets strapped.
If it only weighs 1000 pounds or less then even the first guys ugly strap job will hold up. -
100% of what?
-
I assume the WLL of the rope....
-
Looking at original pix, you do see that straps are straight down; not criss-crossed, right?
That Silly rig WILL slide forward - or back. Cross the straps on each side, not so much.
Four of the 2" by 1/4" Dia. lag screws and washers on the feet
would keep it from killing you if it was a real panic stop. Screwguns are f=great. -
Ah, but does a wagon driver know what it is?LoudOne Thanks this.

The rope appears to be of the 200-300 pound capacity WLL, so, even if the splice was 100% WLL this load is undersecured.
Bean Jr. Thanks this.
