APU Segregation

You wish you had one, we get it.

 

They don't sound near as bad as a reefer unit nor an idling truck engine.

 

most of them are preset and turn off and on by themselves, according to usage and battery voltage

 

Apu's are very quiet compared to a reefer or truck engine especially with straight exhaust pipes. I say run those APU'S if for no other reason than to skirt the anti-idle laws. They pass laws to not idle your engines but by today's standards these engines are far more cleaner than the "coal burners" from the 70's. Hell you have to idle to keep a pet comfortable but the human driver has to suffer.

 

Might as well start segregating trucks according to color, or make. Sign at the entrance to truckstop: Only BLUE trucks allowed.

 

I can sleep thru apu and reefers, the worst are those truck with the compressor who goes off every 30 seconds

 

We have an APU for our truck. Got it used last year and had to do some work on it, but works great. Not too loud and hubby really appreciated it when he had a load to North Dakota a week ago!

 

Yes. Then I remember I’m at a truck stop or at a dock.

 

On my next truck I am going to get an apu just to piss people off even more.
