Several years ago I raised/ packed, and shipped produce. I was a vendor to 3 large grocery chains. We had 35 employees on payroll.
In the spring we would plant the crops, and 4-5 months later, we would get our pay. I have a hard time understanding how a dumb farmer can get 35 employees paid on time with that 5 month offset, but some trucking companies cannot handle waiting 30 days?
If I ever want to have a target on my back and risk loosing 3 weeks pay + 1000.00, I will be in contact with you. -
AfterShock, Meltom, truckon and 2 others Thank this.

Beyond Transport....
Your questions was "are we a bad trucking company?" The answer is "yes, you are".
You asked for our opinions and, except for a few ankle biters and their display of juvenile behavior, you recieved a lot of experienced advice. You've had several alternative business models presented to you. People went out their way here to try to explain what you're doing wrong and how you can fix it.
You still choose to argue, justify poor behavior, place blame on others, and look for ways to continue doing things the way you want to.
You're not looking for advice, you're looking for ways to validate what you're already doing.
Good luck. I'm done with this thread.bitterspleaf Thanks this. -
I haven't read every post on this thread, but I just want to state that I work for Central Transport, and when I first got hired, I didn't get my first paycheck until 3 weeks after my hire date. I also took the $500 cash advance they offered me. So the OP is not the only company doing this. Yes Central isn't the best company to work for out there, but it is a great place to start out if you have little experience like myself. They gave me a chance, and I gave them a chance. I realize it is tough out there and people got to make a decent living, but don't bash on someone if you have never worked there before. And Chicago is not as bad as many seem to make it out to be. I run my linehaul routes through downtown Chicago on the Kennedy and Ryan every night. If you are afraid, then you shouldn't be on the road!
