Tera called me today also. I'll be there for Mondays orientation. I have to leave tomorrow via Greyhound. Not looking forward to that but the sooner I get to Jville the sooner I'm on the road with my trainer.:yes2557:

No disrespect to anyone here but my experience was just a request.... USX / Arnold / Linkamerica, that right there should clue you in. The so called Arnold driver lounge in Jacksonville FL is a disgusting nasty s###hole. I can't believe I even made it to day 2 of their orientation. I was told they were not going to be able to hire me on day 2 because I specified/requested a male/nonsmoker/white for a trainer. Ok so maybe that was politically incorrect to some people, but I was only doing what was asked of me, and being honest. When questioned about it, I just explained that I only objected to being on a truck for 4 weeks with a black man. They explained they couldn't hire me unless I changed that on the paperwork, so I did so! Well an hour later I was called Back into the safety office and told by some very rude, crude, female hater, I guess supervisor named Gene that said no if's and's or but's, they could not hire me because of what I wrote. I explained how I changed my mind and filled out a new paper and will just suck it up, and he stated "we do not accept altered paperwork". Excuse me but Isn't using white-out, altering paperwork? Everyone in class was using white-out! So, then I asked him if he were a white female trainee, would he want to be on the road, in a truck alone with, a strange male trainer black or white? And his response (very intelligently by the way) was, "I'm not a female". I mean, a slap on the wrist I expected and suck it up and move on. Well, I was told to get my things and go home. Any other discussion, I would have just been beating a dead horse. However, my experience with the unprofessionalism of this company just left a bad taste in my mouth and a letter will go to the CEO.

frannyde, you just cannot go to a company and specifically request / not request a trainer because of their race, come on this 2013, I humbly understand smoking / non smoking, and the sex of a trainer, but the race of a trainer?

OK, thank you retired_2009 , I know....I know.... I've been blasted by all the younger people on here in another forum. It's OK, I figured I would be black balled and treated like I was 80. But ####, if these people really knew me, they would be surprised. Even after talking with my best friend and her husband (they are black). They even agreed it was a stupid question to ask us in orientation if they didn't want honest answers :-(
My sister is retired military, she even blasted me! Oh well.... I guess you just can't say what you want anymore.

Being honest IS THE BEST POLICY,,,,also it has repercussions,,We all have opinions and thoughts, but just imagine how many friends / family members that would be hurt if we said "everything" on our mind to them,,Some opinions and thoughts are just not to be shared with others. You may not have meant to make a comment like that in orientation, but hey it happened, I wish you the best, and the next time you request a trainer,,just make it simple and request a non smoker,,its only 3 to 4 weeks,,Like a motto we used in the Army.."suck it up and drive on"
