If I worked for a trucking company. I think I would work for a new company to.
They don't have the problems of large "B.F.I."'s.

Don't plan on going "over the road", or working as a trucker. Just want to get my CDL with hazmat. Will make a great job interview card. With a background check. All will be paid for. So I don't have any compalints.

Well, so far the hardest part of this job is saying goodbye to my family. But we are getting used to
Skype and the seperation. We are leaving out early tomorrow with 2 Home Depot deliveries in SC. We will be running team now and I should have the hours to upgrade next week. Wish me luck!

THE BIG QUESTION is, "are you having fun"?

Definitely! Can't wait to be out on my own. My trainer and I have a lot of fun and I'm hoping we'll get into some mountains this week. We'll see.

Trying not to sound gay but it sounds like you and your trainer have clicked. My trainer from my first truck driving job became really good friends over the six weeks. Me and him talk on a regular basis and get together with our families and hang out. That's actually a good idea for a new thread, "Who actually got along with their trainer and became friends"

I'm glad it worked out for y'all ! I have heard horror stories
Of some trainers at other companies...... It seems as though if you're a trainer
And you're a "butt-hole (you know you are!) maybe
You shouldn't be a trainer, forget the extra money! Nobody
Wants to ride with you! Hehe....

Got mountains, at night, in the rain last night. Be careful what you wish for right? Went up to Crystal Geyser( top of a mountain, middle of nowhere, no phone or drivertech and the wrong pickup#) and came down with 42k of h2o for masses. Ran right up to my 14 and stopped in Greenville so my trainer could take over. We are running Super Solo/ team now and I am doing most things on my own. This afternoon we picked up at the Manchurian in Richmond. It's where they make oodles of noodles(literally). So we have 28k of PMS(poor mans spaghetti) headed back down to the promised land(FL).
Also picked up an early B-day present tonite. I am now the proud owner of a 560lt dezl Garmin GPS. This thing has more features than Milan Kunis!
I will be testing it out on my trainers truck and let you know how it goes. It was actually cheaper at the Hook in SC than Walmart.

Delivered to Publix this morning.4 1/2 HR live unload. Then we got the water load to Texas and the bills say 46k. I told the Guy we can't pull 46 and he tells me it's really only 44. OK. So to the scales we go. 60 POUNDS under gross. We try moving it around 3 times and still can't get legal so back to Silver Springs we go. They tell us because we aren't over gross they can only move it around. We finally convince them to take off a pallet, get legal and down the road we go. Texas here we come, again. Hint- When sliding the 5th wheel, put the landing gear down and take the weight off to allow it to slide easier.

Spent the last week out in Texas delivering Liquid Nails, Furniture and more water. Drove all night the last 3 nights. Other than being a little tired, I think I prefer driving at night. Less knuckleheads to deal with. We're back in GA. My trainer is going on hometime and then taking me to Tunnel Hill for my upgrade. I'll post some more stories tonite from the hotel.

I thought I might start with a one week review of the Garmin Dezl I bought. So far I have been very impressed. As it has been said 1000 times, GPS is just a navigation tool and should always be used with common sense. The hardware- the unit bracket and charger are well constructed. The "friction" mount aka sandbag is a projectile(especially on Louisiana backroads paves with Wedontcarephault. )
Got it to stay on the dash by hooking a small bungee around it and hooking them to the vent. The software- Using and program are easy and there are some great features. Multi-point trips, adjustable truck parameters, quick rerouting and pretty accurate traffic info. There have been a few "uh, NO, I'm not going down that road Sheila( the name I gave to the Aussie female voice giving direction)." But, for the most part it has been accurate and helpful. It also acts as a Bluetooth handsfree device. I linked it to my phone and when my wife called it sounded like she was in the truck with me. She said the sound on her end was real good too.
We got the truck washed in Grand Prairie a couple days ago. The Guy at the terminal did a great job. On our next pickup, we had to scale the load at a little certified scale run by a cool older Guy. He insisted on helping with sliding the tandems and it was perfect on the first reweigh. Anyone who has hauled those water loads knows how close to gross they like to get you. I have been down the mother road in Amarillo, been to the birthplace of BB King and eaten boudin for the first time(delicious BTW). Driving over the Mississippi River on 82 the other night, I thought, I'm tired, but I've been tired before. There are many challenges to this job and I can understand why a lot of people can't handle it. But I love it! Can't wait to get my own truck(should be Mon, wish me luck) and get out on my own.

The Challenger and bigdipper Thank this.
