Demanding more pay isnt going to get you anywhere but the unemployment line. Why be mad about it you found other jobs that pay more so then apply there.

I remember back in the day, I met this really gorgeous young woman.
I was a lean, strong lad and I worked hard to stay that way, and I also worked just as hard at wooing the beautiful lass.
I deserved this young woman as a result.
So I demanded that she sleep with me.
    You know what I got?
A swift kick in the cajones.

You can't wait 18 months? People are so impatient these days. We get irritated if our drive thru order takes more than three minutes...
One, you agreed to the pay structure when you agreed to take the job. Two, if you absolutely have to have higher pay now, then go try to get one of those other jobs. Otherwise, if your current employer is treating you fairly, show them some character and stick to your job.

Same here. After three years with the company, you make the same as the old guy that has been there since before the internet was invented.

18 months is not a long time at all to wait.

    Did she bust her toes?:D
@lumper_with_a_license, There are reasons for starting a person out at a lower wage, and giving them incremental increases. You apparently are not a newby to the business, so perhaps you were in error in accepting this job in the first place? Or maybe you were desperate for a job, and this was the only one you could find? In any case, you really don't have a leg to stand on here. "Demand" a raise? You are likely to get raised right out the door. And justly so. For an individual, making demands on an employer are pretty much guaranteed to get you canned. Demands are best left to unions to make.
I don't mean you can't attempt to renegotiate something. Likely you won't get anywhere, but if you try it, go at it with a business attitude, rater than going in with a chip on your shoulder.
But I suggest that you have another job lined up before you try to renegotiate anything.
Oh one more thing. Never threaten to quit, unless you are fully prepared to do so, and deal with the consequences of suddenly having no income.

3 years isn't the worst I've ever seen. Our company at least USED to require five.
