I can agree to that. I never said it was awful. I just couldn't afford to pay bills at that rate.

    Hrm.

I went to Prime and had a good experience. The pay was good for entry level work. I got my CDL and training without any upfront cost. Sure, 62mph wasn't always fun, but I got paid. If you're an O/O or experienced company driver, .40CPm isn't attractive. You probably aren't making the same rate now that you did when you first started, though. If youl're an O/O and comparing the rate of a company driver to what you make, you're just a fool.

All of the megas/bottom feeders have "lifers".

They all have pros and cons.

Some people believe in that "have to start somewhere " crap, some of us dont.

But in my experience prime is the one always in the way, I dont care if you have to drive slow to get a half way decent check. Just stay right.

Personally, I believe that you should learn to drive truck on the farm from yer gran pappy, and your daddy should buy you a truck. That way you can come on the internet and trash people who aren't O/O and take loads for less than $3 per mile.

In some ways you are correct, I do suck at running a business...but some of the blame falls on the whole fleese program they have. They talk it up so much, only to find out what a scam it is. (Yea, I know, what fleese program isn't a rip off...live and learn). But when the fleet manager who is responsible for keeping you productive consistently finds loads like $.60/mi for a juice load out of Tropicana (of which you only get 72%), refuses to find something else and the company won't assign me to someone else that will do any better...some of the blame falls on them and their system. In fact, most of the solo drivers that were there when I was had similar stories. The Greyhound I rode out of Springfield had 6 fleese drivers on it, only 1 had just completed a short re-lease (leased a pre-leased truck that only had 7 months left before it was due to be returned to Freightliner) and he wasn't coming back once they paid him the lease completion bonus. The only people making money on the fleese deal were team drivers, and only the lease originator was making the money, the 2nd seat driver (who was technically his employee) made squat.

And at the time, the company drivers made lousy money as well.
