I know you haven't been with us long Ezmed, but next time you see a 51xxx leave it, they are supposed to be gone from the fleet 2 years ago. Send a message to your travel agent that its there.
I do it the smart way. Since I don't carry a ladder I can't change a top light. If there is not a terminal enroute I plan my break at a TA or Petro. I don't lose any drive time, TA puts point and a shower on my card for the repair and it gets fixed.
If your FM is worth his salt, and you are not a whiny complaining PITA, you will get paid for problems like that, especially if it messed up your weekly miles. Your FM has money he can play with and can and will give you. Mine did. I wouldn't even have to ask, he told me he would take care of me and he did.
Whiny or not, you don't give one driver $50 for a flat tire and not the another. This thread got started as a result of that sort if thing.
I pick up at night, days, or whatever and do it exactly the same way. There are only 2 markers at the top of the trailer and I'm not going to let that slow me down just because they are out. They do not affect the safe operation of my vehicle.

HOWEVER, what I am saying is that when you leave crap like the AVIR expired from over a year ago, 2 tires gone, several lights gone, and God knows what else, then no you HAVEN'T done your job, and you ARE a lazy arse. @DGStrong I think you need to go and re-read my original post, this thread wasn't started because someone got $50 and I didn't, it was started because I'm tired of picking up after people, I'm not your Mama or Daddy, and certainly not the maid. Simply put, I'm sick to death of the people that think it's ok to leave someone else their crap because they didn't want to deal with it.
I just drop the trailer and position the tractor so that I can stand on it to reach the marker lights. 9 out of 10 times they just have loose connections because the shop mounts them with screws that are too small for the holes. But, I repaired just about every thing on a triler (lights, abs sensors, abs control mods, mud flaps, wiring, rusted in half shocks, air lines, air valves, and I have even changed a leaking air bag. You will be suprised at how easy the parts are to change and how quickly it can be done. Tires are about the only thing I usually cant take care of myself.
