I sure did not say that Klatu,i said I get the trailers fixed when there is something wrong with them because that affects my CSA score, you really need to pull the quote that says I leave trailers for other drivers to fix, find that quote and I will put a check in the mail for a 100 dollars mailed to anywhere you want it mailed to and made out to anyone that you want it made out too.i promise you that you wont find it stated onthis forum that I said its not my job to get repairs done, nor will you find it stated anywhere on here that I leave it for the next guy

Oh really? You read the part about the brakes worn down correct? And you would have driven it anyways? Would that not be falsifying logs? The brakes were worn down beyond the rivets. Any DOT inspection would have put anyone out of service for sure. I would love to see you "adjust the brakes" on worn down brakes, would be interesting to see what your CSA score is.

You said it is our job to make sure the trailer is legal for the next driver. That would be nice. But not reality. We all spend time and recourses messing with these trashy trailers. I have spent allot of time getting these things fixed. I did it just to help out the next guy. Also because I might have had a little extra time. But we don't always have allot of time. We have to make decisions. I didn't mean to come off in a bad way. Wouldn't it be nice if we all had our personal trailer? I would personally pay to have it washed every week.

No offense because I really don't know you, but this is the wrong attitude to have. "We'll nobody fixed it for me so Im not gonna fix I for the next guy." I for one give a rats behind about my CSA score, whether or not USA cares is their own problem. I only worry about my score.

As long as they have at least 1/4" left they are good and also the rivets are visible on some on the Bendix brand brakes anyway. I have only seen trailer brakes worn past the legal limit a small handfull of times and that was years ago before CSA when USA didnt keep up with the trailer maintenance as they do now. But, the symptoms you had described in your original post is quite common of out of adjustment brakes and it is very very very rare for brake drums to warp. Out of adjustment trailer brakes can case a shaking and bouncing of the rear end of the trailer during braking and this gives an illusion of something being warped. Trust me, this is a very common problem with the trailers. I get them all of the time and adjusting the brakes takes care of it every time. So, what was the solution to your problem? Did you call breakdown? What was done to fix the problem?

I got a simple solution for drivers that don't like fixing trashy trailers etc etc, take your butt to another company that has better trailers that you will get paid to fix or wont have to fix.Easy enough I would say don't ya think?

I fix them all the tiime and have a whole assortment of tools at my disposal to work on them with. The positive side to it all is that USA does maintain the equipment now whereas they didnt before. Thats just one of the positives that has came out of CSA. You have been with the company for awhile so Im sure you remeber how bad the equipment use to be. How often did you ever get a trailer that had at least one good tire on it or more than a 2 or 3 working lights? How many times did you use to have to drive on flat tires because USA wouldnt send anybody out to fix them?

There's that word "Simple" again. Everything is so GD "Simple". I can take my butt anywhere I like. Is that "Simple" enough for you.
I have a good job. Only certified people can mess with brakes. I darn sure won't prep a trailer for someone else. People calling all the time wanting me to work for them. I have a question for you. Do you write these trailers up? I do. On the back of your logs is a place. No. USA won't let you. People net gives you a place to write this stuff up. It's dvcr. A Booklet is kept in the truck. I have records of something wrong in case I get a Ticket. I can jump right back to it. Haverty's will pay the ticket. As far as points goes. I don't think anybody knows how many points your supposed to not have. I do my due diligence and report any anomalies. That's all we can do..

I used to drive an ole FDL Flat top for USA back in 2000. I know how they are.
