I just drove a 2022 Frontier 300 miles from the mothership to another terminal where I was issued my new (to me) truck after coming off leave. It's their new shop truck, had 16k miles on it. I don't know what the company paid for it. It's a great little truck, but a little too small for me. The sides of my knees hit the door and the center console all the way there.

Currently at home for a few days. So I went to a Nissan dealer and test drove a brand new 2024 Frontier S King Cab 4x4.
I was impressed,the drive was quiet,the truck handled well. The 3.8 liter V6 is peppy,making it drive more like a sport truck than a typical base model. Even though the trim level was the base S trim the truck basically had everything you needed in an honest to goodness truck-as expected an unexpected bonus the radio is equipped with Sirius XM satellite. According to the dealer, the truck was a dealer trade from another dealer in Kingston,MA for a previous customer, but at the last minute the customer backed out the deal. So basically, the truck is up for grabs again! They’re selling it for $34,905.

They're not cheap and that's a fact. Right around 40 grand for a base model 4x4. Also, Tacoma did away with the old reliable V-6 and went to a twin turbo four banger. My youngest son has a '23 Tacoma and it does a great job.
I bought a Tundra 4x4 last year and I'm still undecided. I drove F250s for years and Tundra doesn't quite measure up but for the difference in price I think I can live with it. A new F-250 4x4 set up the way I want it is just about 90 thousand. Sure, I can write it off but the idea of spending that much money for a work pickup is hard to get used to.
The Tundra was about sixty thousand out the door. That includes tax and license which, being in California, are higher than a kite. -
I read recently where a auto worker said that it cost 28k-35k for the big 3 to actually build 1 P/U. But explained that because of unions thats why the consumer price was so high. Im not a union basher. But thats 40k or more in profit. But after the strike. The big 3 are laying ppl off. After the raises to keep cost down.
But for 35k you can refresh and bring up to date a old P/U. So I couldn't justify a 110k dually truck.bzinger Thanks this. -
Nope. Looked at a Tundra last year 2023 and specced the way i wanted it $78k. I though that was expensive. Chevy, Ford & Rams are out of their gourds.
Toyota being the innovators of electric vehicles (prius, rav4) didn't bet the farm on EV's like others. From what i have read they have been waiting on new battery technology which is slowly becoming available this year.
You pair a turbo4 banger with some serious electric motors and the sky is the limit for pulling power. BMW has some beastly patents of single electric wheel motors pushing the equivalent of 680bhp.
The Japanese could stand to borrow a few of us more robust American's in designing their seats & cabins. My only complaint with Subaru, besides all the new stuff the government makes them install and we get to pay for in the name of safety.bzinger Thanks this.
