Few and far between are people who have $100k to drop on a pickup.
f you cant pay cash for a pickup or any vehicle you cant afford it. I have a severe aversion to depreciation...borrowing money to purchase a luxury item is ridiculous., any way you slice it a vehicle is a luxury item. I could take the city transit to work but I chose the luxury of driving...a 32 year old pickup that I could sell for more than I paid for it 10 years ago...

Something is seriously wrong when you have 2016-2024 Toyota Tacoma pickup trucks selling for at least $40K-even
after they were rebuilt after an accident!

"Add in the cost of stability control, lane-keeping, automatic emergency braking included in the Toyota Safety Sense suite that is nearly standard across the U.S. lineup and it’s easy to see the price ballooning..."
I don't remember asking for any of it. I hate the "safety" industrial complex.

I see lots of these high-end pickups speeding on I-25 in Colorado. A lot of them will road rage tailgate even in town. I always assume the driver is incredibly stressed because he knows he's going to have a hard time making the next truck payment.

Biggest problem with the new tundra is you can no longer get the V8

I’d love to have a older V8 tundra to replace my expedition but I just am too frugal to spend the $

It's not just the automakers saddled with the blame for the sky high prices. The unions share the blame. With the over the top demands they've made, and had met, someone has to pay for it. And that added cost gets passed right along to the consumer.

There is a bigger picture at play here. Dealer market adjustments and worthless add ons are driving up prices. Why aren't the big 3 doing anything about it? Because the manufacturers want the dealer model as is to go away.
The worldwide future is electric. Big 3 can't sell their electrics because of the Tesla service center model. Manufacturer direct to consumer. In Florida they made those illegal and gave Tesla an exemption. The other manufacturers feel they can’t fight it in court because they don't have a direct to consumer platform. They haven't fought the dealer over pricing even though it is driving away customers. They want the dealership model to collapse. First they will take away sales and allow the dealers to keep parts, service, and body shop. From there it is an unknown.
I know this sounds far fetched, but it's coming.
