Auto shifts seem fine on the highway. Some of the fleets that go off road in the oil patch have turned back to manuals or gone to Allison automatics. The auto shifts seem to lose their minds when off road. You need high revs to plow through mud, all of a sudden it decides to shift and the truck stops dead in its tracks.

You should be fine, trucking companies are desperate for drivers and will put anyone in the seat to make money.
Provided you dont stall it across train tracks or rip out a telephone pole.
