I agree. I hate miles, but put my share in in the past.

We had one load going from pharr to Newfoundland. It took over a week to get there and then another week back empty. Literally 2 loads a months

You're getting a little shafted. I started my first CDL job in January and on a decent week (around 2500 miles) I pull in about 1500 gross.

Honestly OP, it really depends on what you identify with. Me personally, I like to turn miles. If you go to a bigger company, they will give miles but cpm may not be the highest, and I'm talking about companies that hire more experienced drivers. Some companies may advertise 50 cpm but you're only driving 2300 miles. I like to run as many miles as possible so I tend to look for companies that have a steady freight base and can run drivers a minimum 500 miles per day. Other drivers dont necessarily like to run as many miles so they may look more regional or percentage pay or whatever.

Running flatbed primarily the last few months I've averaged about 2500 miles, but at 54 cpm and extras plus per diem (done correctly) getting about $1500 per week and $1100 after taxes. I started in 2016 at 38 cpm and the company has been trying to get drivers by raising pay. First to 48, now up to 52 starting. Good pay is out there, just not with the megas. They'll screw you on things like per diem by taking it out of your cpm.

Just talked to a former employer... they will offer me 47 cpm (36 cpm + 11 per diem). Minimum is 2500, average 3,000 miles per week. May stick it out for several more weeks before transitioning.

I don't like getting pushed... stresses me out when I'm short on time. I'm more than happy running 3000. Anything more than 3500 a week is stressful.

For instance, this morning I unloaded and was expected to run 700 miles and pick up another delivery. Most drivers won't do this as it is cutting it close but I did some planning.

These e-logs piss me off... for some reason they kick me out of off-duty and put me in drive... there's some kind of #### lag time where the screen doesn't change for 3 minutes.

You're making 60 cpm as a new driver?! Are you hazmat tanker? Hourly? Oil fields?

I think I average about 1200 miles a week. Though I do have to be in the truck while my partner drives. And we both do loading.

Its average about 1500 a week. Lately I think I am closer to 1700, gross. This week will be over 2k.

    I am at 0.415 cpm.

We get paid for every pick up and we have 21 this week.

My job is a lot of work, but not necessarily a lot of driving. Though I do prefer the driving.

Hazmat tanker. I make .56 loaded and .45 empty. And they try to minimize your empty miles as much as possible. Factor in all the accessory pay and it all adds up quite nicely.
