Attitude is everything in this industry and I'd say you have a good one.

After a few years those 8 hour unloads.....ah they'll still be there, just hopefully far and few between.

If what you say is true about driver's having to take pay cut's, then I'd be looking for another company to drive for. Sounds to me as if Werner's about to go out of business.

Are you talking about Poole? I know they were originally bought out by Landstar, but I think they ended up selling Poole to Schneider.

That was that company out of Seally Texas. I remember those trucks well, there sure we're a lot of them. Old FLD mid-roofs and cabovers in that tasteful shade of green with that floresent red thrown in pulling those cobby trailers filled with junk metal. When somebody offers up the name I'll say "DOH"

They arent the only carrier to enforce pay cuts. If you read Transport Topics a few weeks ago, there were several of the big carriers that have taken them. Some have taken more than one paycut. It's not only the TL carriers but also the LTL carriers that are doing it. No one wants to take a cut, but at least anyone who does still have some income. Werner also let a lot of inside people go to try and trim corners. Personally I would rather take the cut and still have a job than to be without a job period. Believe me when I say they are NOT going out of business. :biggrin_25525:

This is not meant to be an attack on anyone so please don't anyone take it that way... But Alan's post is full of BS. Not a lot of true fact to it. If anyone takes the time to read posts after that one there are people who know the company who've given accurate facts. One example and I did state that previously is about the motorcycle shop.

Trust me, Werner is not going belly up. Far from it i would have to say. All companys in any line of work are cutting back in many ways. The bigger companys know how and when to do it correctly. Noone wants to take a paycut, but its going on everywhere. I was offered a great job a while back for more money, driving. I have been real leary to change jobs and be at the bottem of some other companys food chain. When i came home on hometime i decided to go talk to the guy at his office to see how things where going, office is empty and no trucks to be found, Bankrupt. Having a job period is better then the millions of people have right now.
