Based on 2500mi/wk, the cost of all expenses is ~$1.50 per mile, right?

Expenses include every expense. Such as but not limited to:
Fuel. Repairs. Depreciation. Insurance. Trailer rental or lease. permits, tolls, BOC3, IRP, IFTA..... etc.

With fuel at ~$5/gal., probably ~$1.50/mi. is what all expenses come out to.

It's over $2 for me. That includes paying myself a wage.

this, $2.59 for me to justify turning the key, not that I’ve been anywhere near that low this year.

my trailer is $0.172 a mile without the unit running

fuel alone is$1.02, so with my 20% pad that’s $1.22 alone

    Allright - I'm game.

$1.60/mile expense with paid off equipment.

    Are you financing your gear?

The whole cost per mile comparison is completely worthless.
Some guys drive 50k miles per year. Some drive 150k a year. Some get 8 mpg and some 5 mpg.
Some are financing a newer truck and some aren’t. The ones that aren’t usually don’t account for when they’ll need a new truck. I could go buy a new truck tomorrow with cash but that doesn’t mean I don’t have to account for the depreciation just because it’s technically paid off.
The other thing that’s completely worthless is determining if a load is considered good just by multiplying the miles times your cost per mile. It’s a good start but there’s so many more variables than rate per mile.

Well, you didn't necessarily have to shut down the whole thread with one post - but, here we are. :)
