The way a good company would do it is to pro-rate the cost over 12 mos and reimburse you the difference when you leave.

Why do you want to leave them only after a month?

Yeah your right but then you could ask them like this - I was told when I pay for my plates, it is in my name and if I want to transfer them to another truck, I could just do that without you guys being involved.

There are a couple ways around it. BUT I am not imaginative as I used to be.

I was wondering about this as well. Why have them buy it in the first place if they take their in 2 weeks? Or are you trying to stiff them for the plate and run?

Baseplates are controlled by the “Authority “ Hense the company. So it’s theres. If there decent they should prorate the amount used and give you the difference. Of coarse this is after they find another lease operator. The reason why you or anyone just can’t go down to the DMV and get a plate is you have to have your own Authority and IFTA. If you just take there plate and run with it they will just turn it off as soon as you into a weigh station your done. Bigger problem is how do you not have $1,500.00 for a plate? If your that broke I can only imagine how the maintenance is on your truck. Sell it.

Tampering with my Logs and pressuring me to run illegally and unsafely, they can’t figure out what day pay day is, the accounting department had to get their butts saved by me a couple times on some mistakes they made on my settlement… Bank error would have been in my favor. I’m not entirely confident they are going to track, file, and pay my IFTA properly (been reading in another thread about handling IFTA myself.) they are constantly calling me asking me for my address, my VIN, etc. just another little sign that they don’t really have their act together. Good bunch of guys, and I am making good money, but I don’t feel safe and secure knowing these people are taking care of business.

I’ve had two months of downtime since April. Part of it due to shops in Georgia that take their sweet time. Luckily, 95% of it has been covered under warranty or I might have gone under.

Yeah, that’s another little sign to me. They have 17 trucks on the fleet including me, but they explained to me that pay day will sometimes be on Monday because they have to wait for their money to come in from Amazon on Fridays or else they won’t have the money to pay everybody. I thought part of having a fleet was having enough working capital to take care of business, but maybe they tried to grow too fast? Needless to say, they weren’t too keen on the idea of floating $1500 over the next 4 months.

While we’re on the subject, they said they needed to have $5000 on deposit by law. So they are going to withhold two of my settlements to achieve this. How does that sound? They are based in Virginia.
