Note that more often, alternate routes are getting shut down with main Lines. Seems this years winter season, states with chain requirements have been placing the chain controls on a road, when it is nothing more than wet and just a few spots of melting slush. At first this was really starting to be ridiculous. Then it dawned on me. They had found a way to slow the stupid ones down some. Make them put chains on, they can’t go super truckin.

Think that we are going to see more roads closing to CMVs like PA and a few others are doing during storms.
Primarily because of the fools that put trucks in the ditch.

This year in the western states, Wyoming, Idaho, California, Arizona and Oregon have closed interstate roads much earlier that they have in the past.

As irritating as it might seem to those of us with some common sense about when to drive very carefully, and when to shut down, I suppose an ounce of prevention might make sense.

I've had the same thought. I REALLY, REALLY would like to see more variable speed limit segments on some of these roads. Slow trucks down to 35 over the Blues when there's a broken snow floor would eliminate 99% of the foolishness.

They started closing roads to cmv's in PA today at noon. 1st it was empties and doubles. Complete shutdown at 1500. Am in a parking lot in Philly because of that. Snow starting to come down now.

Will agree with putting in variable speed limits.
The hard part would be getting it enforced. Wyoming comes to mind. They have this, but never see the flyers getting stopped. Not that I want to see people get cited, but maybe adding on special weather fees, like construction zones. Would entice the troopers some on enforcing the speed limits, and reducing the number of crashes and ditch naps. Maybe after a few people get citations, the word gets out and the super truckers get the clue.

E-logs for speedometers sounds like it would work. We are our own worst enemies.

Speedometer is already monitored by elogs. If I had my volume turned up, it would be giving me warnings about speeding. I try not to speed much, but sometimes it creeps up on you......quickly, especially after topping a hill and starting down. Admittedly, it doesn't government you, just warns you and sends a message back to the company.
