Ive got pole extension and 5th wheel pin puller. You can use long 2x4. Put strap on the edge of 2x4 and hold both ends of strap so its tight and pass it under pipe, etc and grab strap on the other side.

Used to be a place in Kasnsas city, don't remeber the name, just it was structural steel products. If memory serves me, only did pre-loads. They would put twine on the load where they wanted it belly straped. had a loops on the ends, hook and pull. You had to bring the twine back in to get your paperwork.
Zeviander, DDlighttruck, Lepton1 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Put it in vice and double bend one end to form a V for the handle. The other end I bend 41/2" then bend 1-2" back up. This forms an H.
Push it through the load, hook your strap or chain and pull, then leave it on the hook and push through the other way on top, belly wrap complete.
I store it across the trailer bracing underneath with a bungee on each end. -
Oxbow and Razororange Thank this.

That reminds me. Was getting a DOT inspection.
Used to keep my dunnage in the landing gear wedge.
Held the wood in place with 2 2 inch straps. Now if you just glanced at them, you might not see the straps. Just the way they wraped around everything.
So DOT comes up to the truck, says his little speach and walks back towards the back of the truck to check tractor brake light, see them and start heading back to check trailer.
When he gets up to the wood, he rears back to give them a good stomp kick, they didn't move. I watched it in the mirror, I swear he really hurt something. had a bit of a hitch in his step after that.
For some reason my level 1 got changed to level 2, not sure why, but I was not going to argue.Riprap, johndeere4020, street beater and 2 others Thank this. -
Ok, I'm about to go out with a flatbed company. What loads must be belly wrapped? Multiple layers or is it multiple items in a layer (like the pvc load on page 3)? Thanks in advance.

Bo Hunt Thanks this.

Depends on terminology. I'm used to a belly strap going in between layers. Like here:
Choking a load is going all the way around it, to try to make a bundle of pieces stay together. Like here:
Chewy352, street beater and Bo Hunt Thank this. -
DDlighttruck Thanks this.

We have very generic terms
Cross deck
cross deck choke
cross deck belly
same side
same sids choke
Same side belly
Theres a few goofy ones like cross deck pass under but really thats it. I really want load chokers, but i dont think there legal in the us yet...Last edited: Mar 2, 2017
