Best GPS

First I am hearing of that and I am sure ignorance of the law is a suitable defense.

They were both there temporarily while I get more familiar with the Garmin. Last couple trips the RM wasn't even routing. I will take it down before I roll out again.

 

Agreed, I have already bought an extended reach mount for the Garmin which will allow it hang just over the edge of the dash but not block any gauges. It's at home waiting for when I get back there.

For your preferred location one of those cup holder mounts would be ideal. Weather tech makes some really beefy ones.

 

Been using Garmin Dezl 580 about a year and a half - since RM 740 bricked after less than a year. Works fine. As with any gps, always check the route it gives you for stupidity.

 

I ran into some stupidity on Friday. I was going to a shipper which requires you to drive a 1/4 mile down a weight restricted, no trucks allowed road. The Garmin, just flat out refused to route me down it and just ended the routing at the intersection.

The RM at least took me down the road, but was pitching a fit the whole way about the restriction.

 

Can you post the manufacturer and model number and where you bought it please? Quite a few options on eBay and Amazon. Thanks

 

That's what I got, not recommending it until I've tried it though.

Things took a turn with the Garmin the past couple days. Yesterday it absolutely refused to acknowledge the Loves in W. Memphis AR. Nothing I tried would get it to show up, not even when I was actually parked there and did a search for truck stops near my location.

Then today, I was trying to route to a rest area on WB I40 in TX and even though the rest area was 60 miles away, the Garmin kept telling me I had to use some "turnout" and was showing it 200 miles away. It wasn't until I was 30 miles out that it finally straightened itself out and routed me properly.

The RM had no issues whatsoever with either of the two destinations.

Next Loves I stop at, I will be trying to return it. I just have no confidence in it right now.

 

I just bought the a OTR700. I like the weather and traffic. I can use voice command to pull up the weather append see storms movement. Still trying to get traffic to show right.

I have only used it a week now but, the voice commands while driving are nice. So far i would say 5 stars but I have been driving highways in cars and rvs almost 5 decades so I just need to stay on a truck route without low bridges.

 

You need to have the Garmin app downloaded on your phone and the GPS connected by Bluetooth to the phone to get the live traffic.

I returned mine because I found a couple routing issues unacceptable. There just wasn't $400 worth of value over my old outdated RM.
