I let mine warm a bit because if it's under an indicated 170F the Volvo Engine Brake won't work.

Does it matter that I have a Cummins ISX, instead of the Volvo engine?

I've always been a fan of waiting till the oil and coolant guages move - 100-125, before moving out of the lot in a low gear at 1200rpm.

Shutdown, about 2 minutes so the turbo is still supplied with oil, then kill it.

I almost never idle at nights.

I would wait till the water temp needle moves. 120f+. When it's 35'F out it can take ten minutes. At least it seems like it. I want the oil to be fluid before I put a load on it.

I don't think the Intebrake on the Cummins has that issue. I think it has to do with the variable geometry turbo on the Volvo which is part of the brake system.

With the older and late model trucks, 5-10 minutes was plenty sufficient.
In the newer models 2014 and up, this is no longer needed.
Start the truck. As soon as your electronics cycle through and your air pressure is up to par, you're good to go.
