My logs are neat. I have always felt that neat paperwork is a plus.
As far as you being on here, I welcome it.
It is always a plus to see the entire side of the coin.

I've used bigroad now for over a year during that time I've had six inspections Kentucky was very happy with my logs and even ask the other officers to come take a look, Louisiana was the only state that gave me any hassle the officer was standing on the side of the building soon as the light said stop he walked right up to my door when I gave him my tablet he ask "what you want me to do with this" he pulled me off to the side and followed me over......he said I want it on paper I handed him my last seven days and ask if he wanted me to print today's also, after going over them the only problem he had was my total miles driven today was showing 0 miles, he said it shouldn't show anything there but if you don't put anything it shows a violation on the app.
I do not print out my logs everyday but I can print it in less than 30sec sometimes I just don't think to print it at the end of the day. Also I'd like to say in my 12 years of driving I've never got a logbook violation I've even had inspectors ask me if I ever was in law enforcement. My job is to stay ahead of there job I get a rush ever time I get inspected and drive away with not even a verbal warning keep in mind I had five trucks at one time with drivers in all of them every time they got inspected something was found. I had a driver that thought if he just got a ticket he couldn't get another for the same thing headlight bulb is the easiest thing in the world to change on a freightliner columbia but after three states wrote him up for it he finally changed it. -
just print the previous days log when you start the new days log, best way to remember -
i have used big road for close to 2 years now and havent had any problem with inspectors. just shoed it to a roving iowa dot officer last sunday he was just pulling over trucks to check logs. (those were his exact words) showed him the current and previous 7 days right on the phone he had me push the buttons in inspection mode of course. i aske him if he wanted to see the paper copies "no have a nice night" and he was on his way. big road is a good program for logs and it works well i think. i will say that every inspector i have met has just asked me if i had a way to print the days off. and that was it

Glad to see that we can agree on something.

You need a pure sine wave inverter for a laser printer. 1500 pages per toner cartridge at a cost of $68.

so I had heard that you could buy this box or device from big road that plugs into your ECM and effectively turns it into an eobr. it supposedly cost about $100. But I can't find any information on it or about it. Anybody here in the know?

I had an inspection recently where the inspector said, he won't ask me to print because it's easy to read on my iPad.

Under the new guidance, if a driver can sign the logs electronically, they do not have to print logs each day and do not have to maintain printed and signed logs for the previous seven days.
From an enforcement standpoint, drivers can display current and records of duty status for the previous seven days on their devices screen. If an inspector asks for printed copies, drivers must be given the opportunity to print them during the inspection, FMCSA says. -
As far as the logging software being hooked up to the ECM, this isn't really the issue, the issue is for the device to know when the truck is moving and when it isn't. That can be done with some devices that have GPS built in.
I hope they get this straight and eliminate this insane idea of an EOBR being attached to the truck in order for it to function.
