Yeah that's about all it takes at every other company i've worked for. But unfortunitly MBM takes forever, everybody i've talked to at our center used to joke about how lond it takes to get hired on.![]()

i was on my own bid route, i enjoyed the work, i like physical work as im in shape but the pressures of being asked and even when im off calling me asking me to work, this is why they couldnt keep drivers here in salisbury
-
Agreed, it seems all MBM's are the same in that reguard. They will try to call you in when your supposed to be off, they'll come up with all sorts of hairbrained schems to try to cover routes. But like anywhere else it's up to the driver to say no, if ya' don't have the hours they wont make you work. But if you accept the route, your expected to cover it. For the most part things would go smooth for a couple months at a time when i was on a bid route. Then they would get shorthanded and start asking people to cover other routes and things would get all screwed up for awhile. Or the would put routes up for rebid and not tell you till it's your turn. But you put up with crap in any job, and i've found that 60k+ and home 2-3 nights a week is hard to beat in this industry. Now if they could just get that carrier pigon to arrive from Asia with my #### DAC, i could get back to work.

Good News! Finaly got the call, they got my DAC back. So i can finaly get to work tomarrow. Gotta' call for dispatch latter this afternoon.

I'm sure MBM is just like the others (sysco, sygma, US food, etc). I worked at Sygma for a time. Great money but treated people like crap and wanted you to run, run, run even on off days. I had a bid route and never went to the extra board, I was lucky. Sure it was nice being home three to four nights a week but I left to go someplace where I make good money and I'm home EVERY night and no schlepping groceries all night long. Never go back to that again, ever. Good luck

Well, i would'nt say the treat us like crap at all. If your a hard worker and they like you they actualy treat you preaty good. They were always good about working with me if i needed a certin day off or something. Yes, they will run your but off, but that's not such a bad thing when your being paid well for it.

How close do you have to live from one of their center before they hire you, thanks.

Good info BigR, helpful and useful information for those considering the food service industry, thanks.
BigR Thanks this. -
Not sure if they have an exact requirement for that. The closer you live the eaiser it is for ya' to get home for your 10hr breaks between routs. When i first started i lived down in Ardmore which is about an hour and a half away, they would put me up in a motel between routs and i just came home for my 34/hr restart once a week. We still have a couple guys that live down that way and a couple that live even farther away. It's really just up to you and how far your willing to comute/ stay away from home. Where i live now i've only got a 35-40 minute drive, it works out well for me.The Challenger and 1laidbacktrucker Thank this.

Be leavin' in the mornin'. Even got one of my old bid routes back! ( At least for this week anyway, lol. ) Which is great because i already know these customers and had this route worked out to where i got it done early
It's a 3 day route, the last stop is'nt scheduled to unload till 6am Sun., but i always made it there by around 3-4pm Sat and they would unload then. Then i'd head over to my backhaul and start my 10hr break there (since they take forever anyway, lol). They'd load me sometime during the night, i'd leave when my 10 was up and be sittin' at home by around noon Sun.
