How come most double bottom dump sets not have a landing gear? Ive seen them resting on wood blocks or a stack of tires.

They may take them off to carry more weight, or it could be difficult to put the gear anywhere useful with the shape of the trailer.

Most belly dumps I've seen don't have landing gear, just drop legs.

They’re not needed on dump trailers as they’re never dropped loaded. Saves pretty much everything that way...money, maintenance, and weight.

Some of our steel barrel trailer end dumps don’t have landing gears, just a leg stand it sets on at the yard. Reason being I heard is some of the dirt jobs and construction sites tend to not be the smoothest or evenest of ground, and the landing gear legs get hung up/torn up on boulders, dirt clods and things of the like.
