To close the loop on this question....

I've decided to pass on Bowerman. Why? Traded a few messages with a former driver via Driver Pulse and confirmed by the recruiter.

Bowerman brokers make up about 30% of loads and often require drivers to install tracking apps on their personal phones for load monitoring.

Ok, so why doesn't the company use the truck and / or trailer GPS locator? I would assume the company tracks their equipment for theft and roadside assistance purposes if not perhaps they are a bit too sketchy.

Brokers use these apps to track loads. They can't use the carriers equipment, unless like some onboarding with their ELD connected, but not all brokers use that.

It's not uncommon at all. Download the app, then uninstall after the load is finished.

The biggest brokers out there pretty much all require it. I wouldn't pass on what might be a good job because of that. It doesn't make them sketchy at all.

I 2nd this post. To piggy back off of this, its been going on for years. I would ask any driver, would you rather the broker call you endlessly, or just use the technology to keep them from harassing you non stop? My company had to get on drivers about this topic. Broker apps have become the nature of the beast at times.

Burner phone on a prepaid plan. $30 and you don't have to use your own phone.

I had a terminal manger once tell me a lease op to tell a company guy what I made, I told him none of his business.
That guy passed on the job too.
was a good job, but you can’t base what I made on what he would have.

As for tracking, keep my tablet for that.
Hooked up to my elog, but I use it for my elog. It stays in my truck.

    Yes that was my plan.

But found an even better option that gets me home daily vs weekends only with Bowerman
