I could NOT read the tag and I tried my best. but I know that police have good software for this sort of thing. They also read toll records and so on. Once my warehouse was robbed and all I had was almost completely black video due to poor lighting. The police somehow improved the video and identified the car.

The authorities should be able to “clean up” the image a little. The pickup truck is a 3rd generation Super Duty(2011-2016 model year) crew cab with the FX4 package so it narrows it down some (can’t tell if it was a short or long bed because of the angle of the camera).

THAT would change things. Towards negligence.

Usually big enough objects go through the glass and smash jaws, break necks, collar bones etc.

I remember a rock in the narrows west of Allentown that ended up bouncing along the interstate on I-78. I was in the cabover flatbed and it was bouncing higher than me. Size of a bible.

When it took that last bounce, I horsed the truck over and BOOOM. Got back to the yard and come to see paint gone below my drivers window to bare metal on the door where it hit. Dented it as well.

I tell you that cabover steering was the best that day. I would not be here if it was not.

Here you go. Best I can do without the original uncompressed vid. However, it is a piece of channel steel from inside of the tow hitch receiver that they must use to connect some kind of boat or trailer, etc. Definitely makes them civilly liable for the damages. And had it actually hurt someone would have made them likely criminally liable. Most states also have a vehicle infraction on the books for unsecured debris coming off like that as well which results in a traffic infraction fine at minimum.

Is the original video in 2K or 4K resolution perhaps?

Don from DieselBoss (sorry so late to the party on this one. Just saw it from a link over in the tech area.)

Dude... Awesome work... You can actually see it fall out of the receiver. Hope the original poster uses this to go after them for damages.
