In so much as I am a staunch defender of the 2nd A, get caught with a pistol in CA, IL, NJ, NY, MD, MA, RI, CT (I'm likely missing a few) while not a resident in one of those States will get you a real bad day, even if you have a CCP from your home State....Those States don't recognize any other States carry permits.....Maybe some day that will change, like one State permit being valid in all 50, like a D/L, but don't hold your breath....With HRC in charge, and a slanted socialistic SCOTUS resulting thereof, a lot of good common law abiding folks will be a having future bad days...As an old timer, it's a shame to watch what's happened to this once great country ..Anyway, do yourself a favor, query various State handgun laws and make an informed decision...Always try to keep yourself out of bad surroundings if possible, spending the overnight in some parts of Jersey & NYC is really asking for it, don't do it...Good luck, be safe, and all the best to you ....

Also look at the company you go with, if they run into Canada. Canada does not take kindly to folks in the US bringing any firearms into their country.

This is the United States not Vietnam or the Middle East. Don't let fear run your life. Look people in the eye and greet them. Do let them smell the fear.

If you want to carry, do so responsibly. Know the laws for the states you will be in. Know your companies rules for carrying. Get trained, and then continue to train. I'm not gonna say that truck stops are crime ridden places, but in the past 3 years there have been several instances where drivers have been murdered, had they been able to defend themselves, their outcomes might've been different.

The story behind Mike's law is a big one. Driver was murdered in his truck, then they set the truck on fire. Left behind a pregnant wife.
2 drivers from prime were shot one was killed in Baltimore at one of the ta truck stops. I'm not sure if the other lived or not.
Werner trainer was stabbed by his trainee. He had lodged several complaints with his dispatcher about his trainee the company failed to heed those complaints.

There are many other instances where drivers have been hurt, killed, or robbed.
If these drivers would've been able to carry, maybe they would still be alive, maybe not. Fact is, if you practice a little common sense when you park up, don't park in abandoned lots, gas stations, or on the side of a street in a shady side of town, your chances of not being in a situation will diminish substantially.

If you still feel the need to carry like many do. Educate yourself on the laws. If you decide to carry into a harshly liberal law state such as Jersey, or new York, keep it out of site, and don't tell anyone.

That plus high sodium, sugars and fats and low exercise. Those will do drivers in long before they ever need a gun.

It wont matter if you die. Surviving is the number one priority, so you can live to see another day.

It is better to wake up in prison, then force youf family to prepare an unexpected funeral for you.

    Just my opinion..

You can use the search function of the website and your future employer will never have a clue you were interested in bringing a gun in the truck. Or, you can start a thread and hope a future employer doesn't find out your real name or that you have published enough details to match your screen name to your real name.

I think NJ will put you in jail just for having a hollow-point bullet & no gun, or was that Chicago?

It was one of the two lol. I make it a point not to venture north of the Virginia line and don't too much care to venture outside of my state line lol.
