That would be the way I'd go too. A small lightweight used enduro.
Them rainstorms on the east side tend to be pretty nasty. But if i really wanted a cruiser. It would have to be a shaft drive. Rusted out chains that wear out sprockets aren't cheap. Don't know how well belts would hold up.
I'm all for packing a bike around. I just wouldn't want the hassle of trying to protect it 600 miles a day 7 days a week. If i were to pack one around. It would have to be something cheap that I wouldn't care if it got trashed.

I saw a sweet bike set up today in Hurricane, WV. Fellow drove up on has bike while I was backing into the spot next to him, and just idled his bike nearby until I parked. I was worried that maybe I had nearly cut him off or something, and he was wanting words with me. Nope. He was just waiting for me to park so he could load his bike.

I bought a house instead of doing this, but I have some money again. Anybody know how much force those frame hooks can take on the front? It seems like a heavy bike bouncing down the highway would put a hell of a lot of force down on those. The shop uses them to lift the 12,000 lbs off the front tires, but levers and inertia can be tricky things.

The weight and bouncing is one issue for sure and a way to secure the FWD/AFT movement would be a concern as well. However, mounting anything to the front is going to increase your overall length and you may run into issues depending on your trailer(s).
Puppage Thanks this.
