IMO this makes much more sense than the federal standards, although I'm curious how NY plans on enforcing #3. Standard equipment shocks are barely sufficient when new and pretty much shot by ~100k miles to begin with. Anyone know of any companies that change shocks yearly?

That sucks but what can you do. I guess he could warn the driver who is picking it up and call the DOT to report it.

He will likely be a lot better off in the long run. It may be kind of rough on him for the short term though.

Yup, they told him to move out of the seat and let his co rookie drive.

Don't be calling me a liar - or even insinuating it. You want his phone number ?

  7. Its big box trucking. He is and will be expendable.

How long has he been driving. Or just flat out had his class A?

Longer story - sigh! Less than a year experience, more than a year ago. Was with prime, but said they didn't do refresher courses. Hence the bad company choice.

    I wish he'd asked me first . . .

It's good he stood his ground.

Western Express is owned by the same company that owns SRT.....and we all know how much they love their drivers.

Now what happens? He was fired for not driving a vehicle with a serious violation. Does FMCSA enforce the rules against that?

If someone is fired for reporting unsafe working conditions, it is possible that whistleblower protection may apply. Make sure the person in question has pictures of the qualcomm messages, note of phone calls, and pictures of the unsafe condition (broken mount/unsecured shock). Always, always document!!! Good luck
