Every other day in this forum, somebody starts a thread about brokers need to be transparent and how they are abusing truckers and how they control the market and keeping the rates ridiculously low.my question is: who is moving these oversized loads with 500k cargo insurance requirements for two bucks a mile or loads for buck fifty per mile going across the country?

I saw my 'competition' the other day with a clearly over width load, just a-tootling along, no flags banners or nothing.
exhausted379, Magoo1968, Siinman and 2 others Thank this. -
That almost always makes me about blow a gasket. It's one thing if you get in over your head on accident and bow out when you realize what you're into. It's quite another to be like, "Ehhhhh, #### it, this is fine."Stringb8n, Siinman, Opendeckin and 1 other person Thank this.

I see it about every week lately - I mean, clearly over dimensional loads without any flags or banners.
It's one thing to flag it and go, without permits - another to openly display foolishness.Vampire, exhausted379, Stringb8n and 5 others Thank this. -
Yes. I have seen some pretty wide loads myself without flags or banners. Not into oversize myself so don't know the regs but thought - looks kind of sketchy !!
blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
in different jurisdictions banners are not required for oversize loads until a certain width or height. Same as flags or flashy lights. Certain states have different rules in some even for different parts of the state
Stringb8n and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
Just because you see it on a load board doesn't mean it's getting moved. Even when it gets taken down doesn mean it got moved either. Same goes for their posted rate. Sometimes these guys are just fishing and testing the waters hoping to find someone willing to do it.
Siinman, bamanation, Stringb8n and 1 other person Thank this. -
we know what anchoring is.
When you call on a posted load, broker offers a ridiculously low rate and refuses to negotiate that only means one thing:he moved it before for that rate and confident enough some other sucker will show up.Siinman, Stringb8n, blairandgretchen and 1 other person Thank this. -
Saw that last week.in Wyoming. 12' ish wide, no banners, no flags. White Volvo from BC.Siinman, exhausted379, Stringb8n and 1 other person Thank this.
