Hello. Does anyone have any current info on current labor rates for work on C15 engines? I just bought a truck that needs an overhaul. I’m trying to figure out what is the best direction to go. From a cost and time standpoint which option is most economical. Have an inframe overhaul vs swap c15 for an already remanufactured one? Any advice would be appreciated.

Reman engine is gonna run roughly 42-45k$ from Cat, 40 hours is probably what a shop will quote you to swap, depending on truck.

Taxes in with labor, probably 52-57k$ depending, to swing one.

I haven't priced a platinum kit in years, so no ideas on OH price.

With the lackluster shops of today, I think a guy is money ahead to swing one and get back to work.

6nz/2ws will run you about 35k with injectors, just had this convo with the shop I use as I was looking at something else but after sitting down and going through everything realized I really don’t want to go through this all again like I did with my 97

there’s a c18 for sale on FB market place in PA for 85k if you really want to party….

If you know the motor… it helps.
    But not all rebuilds take.
Swapping to a used motor, maybe I. A wrecked truck with low miles can be an option… there’s a place here that buys from insurance companies wrecks.(side damage, twisted frames, and such) and sales engines and transmissions.
