I don't buy drinks packaged in large-mouth bottles, or fountain drinks with straws. I will drink much less from a bottle with a standard bottle-cap sized opening.
The rest of the control just comes from me knowing how much I can drink over how much time. I will generally drink about 3/4 liter of whatever it in my cupholder in a 5-6 hour driving stretch.

Here's my thoughts on caffeine and bladder control:
1. Drink less coffee, but make it stronger.
2. Consider cold brewed coffee. It eliminates acids.
3. Stop drinking coffee a few hours before the end of your shift, so you can sleep.
4. You can become habituated to caffeine. Take a day or two off of caffeine every now and then to "reset" the effect.
5. BACK AWAY FROM THE SUGAR. Adding sugar or ANY other sweeteners to your coffee will induce acids and cause you to "hit the wall". Learn to appreciate black coffee. In my case I switched to cold brewed coffee a few years ago and the taste is so much better than hot brewed coffee. For that matter stop eating snacks with a lot of sugar (50% glucose and 50% fructose). It's very bad for your health.Steel Dragon Thanks this. -

When I know I’m closing in on a city or driving around one I’ll stop at a truckstop or remote ramp before I hit the city. Don’t want to be doing the p p dance in city traffic.
Brickwall and Steel Dragon Thank this.
