Last report sounded like a possible kidney problem?! Dont want to bounce around in a truck all day with that kind of problem....

Sorry it was been a bit since posting. I am running my butt off the pay is what I expected taking home more than I need so that is good. I have been leaving out on Sunday and going home on Thursday. They ask for 3 turns a week. I am keeping busy. 1st week I had 2 turns 1500 miles went home for Dr. appointments, 2nd week I had 1900 with 10 hours local work repositioning containers or preloading containers. This week I had my 3 turns and 2300 miles. I have appointments all day today surgery is scheduled for 30th. Learning the port is interesting but I am actually having fun when not in pain from my 15 kidney stones 3 are to big to pass. So I am good just in minor pain doing well. I HATE the idle policy I use a cpap machine and alarm goes off nights I do not idle. I spoke with safety and have a plan in motion is all I can say. Be safe everyone.

" Working Hard and making a go of it " = to " running my butt off "
Sorry to hear of your health / surgery issues. -
I hate to say this, but trucking with kidney stones and usually running 'dehydrated' dont mix! And if drinking plenty of liquids, stopping often even with a pee bottle takes time during runs.
My HMO doc warned me (as a long-haul trucker since is a common ailment) of kidney stones during my yearly physical, altho I've never had a stone nor do they run in my genetic relatives, and I usually ran dehydrated so as not to have to stop and take a leak too often and make delivery/P-Up times.
I ran the US/Mex border in daycabs (home every nite) with another guy who use to get them--would go down for a day or 2 in pain until he passed them!
Some ppl are susceptible to stones no matter what---trucking may not be right for you...Last edited: Aug 16, 2013

stones mixed with driving... PITA I'll bet. I drank MORE than my fair share of soft drinks over the years and still enjoy a Red Bull within the first few hours of my day. All I have to show for it, luckily, is 10 pounds I don't need. Never had stones but I've always drank plenty of water. I drink a gallon every two to three days and always choose water with all meals.
Hope you get it all worked out Cage. Best of luck to you with all of that. -
I saved my gallon of water for emergencies (break down in the desert or a leaky coolant system!!..) but what I did drink was coffee and iced tea (not much soda)...which may have helped me per this link>>

Dna Mach Thanks this. -
Cage, if you use a cpap machine they have to give you a reasonable accommodation, which means you can idle the truck while sleeping. I use to work for Knight and know this to be the case. If they don't they are in violation of ADA which can cost them $$$.Dna Mach Thanks this.

Knight is so 'idle paranoid' that I'm amazed that they would hire drivers with what is becoming a more common condition! Of course they would use another 'excuse' for not hiring them to avoid violating ADA, or 'getting them to quit' if the Idle times got too high.
Do they still 'penalize' the tractor for the high idle times with slower max speeds? -
Cage, I'm glad to hear the job is going like you had hoped. Sorry to hear about the stones...I hope all works out for you and surgery isn't needed. Stay safe and I'm looking forward to more updates.
