    I received a call from them too. I asked them if CA is even part of the USA anymore and suggested that they should focus on issues like;
    • Getting visa to enter CA.
    • IFTA like permit to use a condom.
    • Regulating cow farts.
    Off course they took my cow fart suggestion, true story here's the link to the news article by NY POST California Regulates Cow Farts

    How do they measure the air when air is shared all over the world? Can they measure my 2004 455 cat idling right now with the AC on, in a loading dock in PA?

    It's beyond my scientific capacity to understand how they do it.

    All the time. Glatfelter below York, pa.

    But I have never been by a dairy farm and said, yup, those cows are farting a lot.

    Don't forget, there's also 7.5 billion + people on earth. Are they going to regulate our farts as well? I would think we outnumber cows by the thousands.

    I don't believe any officials of California would call asking such questions.. I don't think it matters to the decision maker's of the state at all.

    We could make a fortune building DPF filters to strap on cow's backs. Of course milk will have to go up slightly in price to $20 bucks a gallon.....

    Sorry to say ... http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/tpp/offices/omsp/statewide_modeling/cal_vehicle_survey.html

    Seems flaky to me, but it's not actually Caltrans that's calling you, just as it's not Microsoft calling you about viruses on your computer or the IRS calling to tell you that you've been sued for back taxes (right ... some Pakistani/Indian guy who can't speak English but whose name is "Officer Gary Johnson" works for the IRS). These BS scams are all over YouTube.

    If anyone I don't know asks for any personal info over the phone, I hang up, usually after cussing them out or stringing them along to waste their time -- or both. Phone "surveys" can turn into phishing scams. Caltrans should know better.
