I got one in San Bernardino on I-10 last week. I called to inquire how much money to send them and she told me it hasn't been entered yet and to call back in 6-8 weeks because after all "They write ALOT of tickets." Okay then.
I know the ramifications just wondering if anybody might know the dollar amount I'm looking at.

I received the same citation I-80 coming into Auburn. $211.00 with court costs in Placer County. Fought and won. Just curious, how many lanes each direction and what were you doing, running or actually passing? If it applies I will tell you what I did to win (case dismissed) in Placer County

California is pretty pleasant to deal with tickets with, compared to Michiganm, atleast....I got a ticket in the truck in Kern County once, got an extension on it, extension was until december (got the citation in august). In december i just had to make a payment arrangement on it and pay 1/3 of the ticket...
in michigan, you have 10 days, the only extension you get is another 10 days, and after that, you better pay half of it....what a crock... -
I was in the truck fast lane and I opted to pass a slower truck on the left rather than to pass on him the right. There was traffic in the right lane. I just went left where there was nothing happening. I was on I-10 at Wabash going east. I was back over in my lane before he got me. I understand running in the left lane being an idiot but fail to see how passing a slower vehicle and not obstructing any traffic at all makes us criminals.

Mine was $250, I did the same thing but in Irvine, CA on I-5 SB just south of CA 55. There are about 6 travel lanes and 2 HOV lanes there. I jumped into the 3rd lane from the right to pass and jumped right back over. Smokey sitting on the first get on ramp pulled me over.

What did the officer say when/if you asked him?
-
I told him what I had stated above. He said nothing just asked for my logbook, looked it over and asked for my medical card and DL then went back to his car and returned with my ticket.
-
I was thinking that if they allowed it then you would get the ones who "try" to make it and get stuck out there and your back to square one for the reason they passed it in the first place.

I got one on I-5 over Grapevine. Was $190+. They list it as a moving violation, so I showed up and got it turned into a parking ticket.
California's law is that you must stay in the far right lane and are only allowed to pass in the lane immediately to the left of the right most lane. I thought the officer was just going to give me a Level 3 and a warning, but came back with a ticket and explained that if I didn't stay out in the third lane after completing my pass, he wouldn't have pulled me over. -
I believe this is for a three lane highway....such as the I-5 NB from Knotts Berry Farm to the Commerce Casino. On four lanes, trucks can ride the number 2 lane. I'm sure someone here will post the correct law.
