I suppose. If you like not having a spine, don't care about your privacy or working for someone that doesn't trust you. Then I suppose it's good.
As for me, I wouldn't work for someone that doesn't trust me. That makes me not trust them. And without trust, you ain't got much.
Before I messed up my knee, I was working local, and making more money, on a regular basis, than I did OTR or regional. So qual comms, no elogs, loose leaf logs. (very loose). Why? Because my boss only hired guys that he could trust. And we all did our jobs. Made him and ourselves a lot of money. That's the way ALL trucking should be.Rusty Trawler Thanks this. -
Who said anything about that?
From what I hear, all trucks, over a certain age, are gonna have to be equipped with come tracking gadgets. -
Ya, I don't mind them most of the time... I see it as more protection for the driver being pushed to drive unsafe...
And even if the clock says I can drive if I am tired and it's a safety issue for me, the truck stays put.
I say when I can drive and when I can't, within the rules imposed on us... which when last checked are the same between eLogs and Paper... LOLGunner75 Thanks this. -
Never said anything about being spineless but thanks for passing your judgement on others.
Sometimes it's not the company but their insurance policies that didcate cameras in the trucks... if the insurance companies give you a big enough discount on the cost of their policies any one will install them to save money.
My company trusts me but that doesn't mean they are not going to use tech to CYA against the actions of all their drivers or others claiming the driver did this or that. It can be used to protect us from false claims too.
It's not all that bad.
And you can certainly work for anyone you wish to work for... it's all good.UsualSuspect Thanks this. -
If you wish to run free get your own authority and don't work for someone else... and pay the higher insurance rates for that freedom too.
Easy. -
Just be yourself, stop worrying about it. There's basically a camera on nearly every city street corner anyways...
UsualSuspect and MidWest_MacDaddy Thank this. -

Oh you mean the freedom to take speed and drive for 5 days straight well falsly reporting in my log book, and if I happen to get pulled over I throw a couple hundred at the drive, ruining all that extra time I got from taking speed?
Or are you talking about the freedom of local drivers to band together and say their job takes 8 hours instead of the 4 it really does? -
If they are gonna watch me, I'll give them something to watch
Rusty Trawler, tucker and SHOJim Thank this.
