That’s what I first thought and wondered why it was even a question But I think it’s the GoPro stuff. Mounted cameras not movie night. Although I’ve passed many of trucks watching all sorts of stuff on a laptop on the dash
Live streaming is the same as filming with your phone except what you are filming is being broadcast live out over the platform you are streaming to.
If I misunderstood I apologize but there is enough to do just trying to drive the truck and watch out for the 4 wheelers that might be doing anything that is unattentive. I sure miss the old days of the 60s-70s when you used a pay phone, CB and a road atlas rather than so many electronic devices.
Another way to look at it is that it is a dashcam that records live to the cloud. People can see it live and chat with each other from anywhere in the world with internet access. I had one person from McMurdo Station tuned into my live stream once.
Biggest question would be WHY any driver would want to do that . how much money can you make on YouTube for that kind of stuff ? plus your audience has got to be a bunch of losers with no life at all . Who else would have time to sit and watch your live stream broadcast . but I assure lawyers would watch it if you were involved in an accident while you were distracted by making your live TV broadcast . If you were talking to your audience or glancing at the camera , bam, they got you for distracted driving . inwill admit to watching compilations of live streams , edited for humor . Funniest one was a O/O who ran out of fuel while live streaming, he just coasted to the shoulder , got the camera out stood on the shoulder and started asking if any of his followers were close enough to bring him fuel .
Used as a live dashcam, showing what life and work is really like out here on the road, entertaining and extra connection with your audience. The sky is the limit. It's not just the youtube ad revenue, it is the sponsors who pay thousands of dollars for the youtuber to say a few words about the sponsored product for a few minutes. There is also multiple ways to sell merch to your audience. Can also team up with huge companies like Amazon and become an affiliate and steer your audience to use your link when the want to buy crap on Amazon and you get to scoop up commissions for that, even when you are sleeping. The youtube economy has surpassed $400 billion dollars in 2021, and it is only growing more and more. The same people who watch tv, a lot of retired people. Not a whole lot of truckers want to go truckiing all day then sit back and watch a trucker go truck. Truckers are not my target audience. A woman jumped out in front of my truck Live while streaming. Yes it was an horrific collision and the stream footage was shown to the CHP on scene, they saw no wrongdoing on my part. Totally agree, I know a few live streamers who read and respond to the live chat while they are driving. Way too easy to be qualified as distracted driving if things go sideways real quick. Don't believe everything you see on the tubes lol. I have done this prank before myself.
Geez, something else to worry about while driving a big rig. Why can't we keep the main thing, the only thing. I'm happy listening to my Sirius XM!
