I'm not a trucker, so I don't really know, but... Wouldn't this be something you'd check in your normal pre-trip? Wouldn't it be something you'd carry extra with you OTR? Just wondering.
can i put water in my def tank?

Gas stations sell DEF because even newer pickups with diesels use DEF. All you need to do is unhook from your trailer and go find an autoparts store or a gas station that sells diesel, as they will have a few gallon jugs on the shelf. You can go 300 miles on 1 gallon of DEF. I still have 3 gallons left when my warning light comes on.

Well my ####### tried the water before posting kinda like touching the frying pan before asking if its hot but I syphoned it out and my engine light went from red back to just yellow I tried heading around the block and its a no go got no power and I don't wanna tie up the interstate creepin along so break down has been called but the second I get to a truck stop 3 or 4 bottles will be going under my bunk. I hate dealing with this def stuff.

Remember to top it off when you get fuel. Back in the day we didnt have ultra low sulfur diesel or DEF or particulate filters. Just the cost of being a driver.

For future reference, almost any dealer who sells new diesel pickup trucks have DEF in their parts department, too if you can't find a truckstop or truck dealer.
I'm not sure but those drivers who use gallon jugs for pee storage and like to throw them out on the side of the road??? That pee would probably work much better in the DEF tank than water. -
i really hope he isnt another one of ours

It def something you check on a pretrip and I did but I'm also a rookie and when I asked my dispatcher who I trust and consider a friend somedays lol he told me I should be able to make it out and back. But I guess that's why he sits at a desk and I drive. But being a rookie I gues I gotta quit trusting people and go with my gut for now on.
