nope. I just switched it to ELD mode and still can edit odometer readings. I guess elog systems are different.
I sent link to engineering dept at University a few years ago about tampering with ELDS and answer was "yes, anything manmade"
ronin was last seen: Mar 30, 2012 That was right before his sentencing. With good behaviour he should be able to PM you in another 2-1/2 years.
Eventually they'll get wind of it and shut that little "enterprise" down. I still find it odd the way people are acting like this ELD stuff was dropped on the industry all at once. I still remember the days when I started driving, hearing all those stories about drivers running 3-4 logbooks at once, popping "uppers" or "speed" to stay awake, and drivers yelling into the pay phones "I can't do that, I ain't slept in __ days!!", the complaints about dispatchers forcing drivers to run outlaw to the drivers bragging about how much they run outlaw. And there was a lot of discussion of the industry and DOT trying to change to some kind of electronic recording. One company I was with was known for running outlaw until a few high profile was wrecks got them into hot water with DOT and the PI lawyers. And a friend of mine who was run into by a drunk idiot while stopped st a light..he wound up getting nailed because of a 3 week old 15 minute "discrepancy" in his book... and of course the DOT check points.... pull up to the NYS trooper who's already in such a good mood because of the guy behind you trying to BS him until he directed the guy over to where the DOT van was waiting with the creepers..#i need to see your logbook!!" Since I started on e logs 7 years ago I've only had one level 2 inspection and a few level 3's . And my log was looked only 2 of those times, just a cursory glance at the numbers and sent me on my way. Do I miss having the cop look at the old paper book and decide something was off even though it was showing legal? No. I've said it several times years ago when slogs became a thing and I'll say it again. The days of outlaw are done and deserve to be. There's too much liability in running false logs with all those lawyers waiting to pounce on you in court if you get into even a minor fender bender, and the companies don't want it. The shippers are increasingly cautious about whose trailer their load is going on so they know if it's going to get there in one peice or if they'll have and angry costumer who didn't get their parts or merchandise when needed because the trucking company didn't care if someone fell asleep at the wheel and spread it all over the ditch. This is nothing new, and while this may #### some people off here and set off the usual "you're mindlessly following the corporates!" garbage, but I find it hard to find sympathy for those drivers and companies who didn't prepare for the ELD requirement when they had time because they thought a certain famous individual would take charge and save them. This is the something the industry brought onto itself.
Could you please tell me how you work around on your ELOG (log on somebody else acc) ? Thanks in advance ?
