That used to be common around my area with farm tractors.

If it can be hitched to a farm tractor, it can be hitched to a pickup in people’s minds.

I think the Mennonite manufacturing shops stopped using tractors and switched to CMV’s.

The trailers were becoming so heavily loaded.

Some were over 100,000 lbs on a tandem trailer with a single axle dolly being pulled by tractors.

They were trying to take advantage of the laws and regulations that govern CMV’s and what is considered farm use and commercial.

Since tractors don’t have to have a license, yellow sticker, they have cheap insurance, the cost to move freight locally would be cheaper than a proper Truck.

I’m not sure if the police and MTO have been doing something about that, because CMV’s are doing all the work now.

Got to give the guy for ingenuity. Not for having any sense though. I wonder if he really thought he would be ok with this.

If the van trailer is empty and the pickup only travelled 30 mph or slower, the van trailer really isn’t that hard to move around, even in 2 wheel drive.

The trailer also has a slow moving vehicle sign.

Also, here, many of those Rams, Gms, and fords go to sled pulling competitions.

Those factory hitches are put through serious stress trying to pull a 20 ton sled as fast and hard as possible.

And if the trailer was hard pull for the Chevy pickup, the front wheels would’ve bent or break the tie rods as it was common for them when in 4 wheel drive.

It takes a lot to break the pin or the hitch.
