You need to think about fuel consumption which can be very expensive if reefer unit does not have non-continuous mode. Personally, TK is better. But, it does not mean it lasts longer, and can get better service later, etc.

Just to keep the thread rolling with newer experiences.

Sunday afternoon, ran into another of our trucks at the Barstow Pilot. Having Carrier unit issues .. won't start .. some sort of "starter error" code .. -10 load to unload following morning in SoCal ... box temp now indicates 18. And to complicate matters, our company programs units to ONLY run start-stop on temps below freezing so even if they managed to get it to crank one time, somebody would have to reprogram it operate continuous until the problem could be rectified.

No Carrier after-hours can be reached that can offer any sort of meaningful help, The one nearest (Fontana), is on another road call in Redlands somewhere. I've dealt with Carrier weekend support and it sucks but once you can figure which branch location has an active, on-call tech, your best bet is to head to that location ASAP and worry about getting somebody to come out later.

Point is, Carrier support, especially weekends and after-hours is pitiful. Thermo-King support beats Carrier support hands down, working hours or after hours.

This particular unit BTW, was older and due to be traded out next available opportunity. Carrier units are pretty solid the first 2-3 years then after that they become questionable.
