Bracket is painted, issue 1....Surrounded by trees n such issue 2 Useing wrong ground points with wrong materials....A multi meter would be the correct tool to use 1st...Yes that ant needs to be angled atleast 20 deg also longer..

I have the grounding strap going from the bracket to the hinge then from the hinge to the body... The issue I'm still having is the ANT light continues to light up when I key the mic to talk... I seen other posts saying that the reason that keeps happening is because it isn't grounded properly... Idk if it's something I didn't do correctly or if I missed a step..should I angle the antenna more.. I'm open to any an all suggestion.

Do as mentioned re "HINGE" only..
Watch the vids i have on youtube under the name craig_sez
Read up on bonding on k0bg.com
Pick up a multi meter then refer back to this pic..It will help you determine if grounded or not..Attached Files:

If i get time in the next few days im gonna try and do a fresh vid that will basically cover the base of these trucks and antennas....
Gotta dig up my ole go pro and see it it still works.. -
So I got the multi-meter and discovered that the washers that's on the door hinge wasn't allowing the proper grounding so I did a quick walk around the truck an discovered another screw that was the same size but without that devilish washer. Did a quick screw swap an still the ANT light came on when keyed the mic so a little birdie told me to angle the antenna a little more... Problem solved... Now I'm questioning is it angled too far... What you think??

Nope your good...@ highway speed your measurement in swr may change a lil compared to sitting still..Just notice the diff from parking with nothing around you(100 or so ft) compared to highway speed.....
When you have a chance have a cb shop put it on an analyzer to see...
Tell them you need a low swr resistance(r# should be 50 ohms give or take)and your resonance(×# should be zero or dang close on ch you use most)..Last edited: Aug 15, 2019
