A 25 classic, will out talk a 29 anyways, even if both are peaked and tuned.
I’ve had talkback added to a 25 that I’ve had for 15 years or so

35-40 years ago when I owned my first, cobra 29s were bullet proof.

I bought a new one a couple of years ago and within a month the meter light quit and shortly after I noticed the meter was flat and would have to (and still do) thump the rf gain knob a few times to snap it back into shape to receive anything.

It works ok most of the time but that old classic is't what it used to be.

    I wouldn't buy another one.

For open deck I would consider a Uniden 880 or 980 or a President radio.

You can buy a Bluetooth microphone for them that you can take outside the truck. I found a box set for a Uniden 980/external speaker/Bluetooth mic at some TA.

Really useful when you pull on somewhere to get loaded and are outside the truck "staging" when they call you on the CB to tell you to pull in. You can take the mic with you!

It's rare that it happens, but it's nice to have when it does. The mic works with President radios also.

I'm needing to setup an external antenna, the Cascadia internal 1 is a joke.

A Turner RoadKing 56, Mic and for a midroof with flatbed a 3’ Francis antenna.

Enough to get over truck, shouldn’t need over 4’
