Don't think GFS goes out that way... yet, anyway. Paging @Mike2633 .... ??? You could always stop over to the random LTL rants thread, and read a scosche, in the mean time. (It's pretty physical, is all I know.)UsualSuspect Thanks this.

I really have nothing to add, but if I were interviewing you for a job I'd ask you to elaborate on the connection between the improving economy and the slowing of the recovery business. I'm not saying your reason isn't valid, just that "the economy" is a common excuse job applicants often use to gloss over the real reason for being unemployed.
Mike2633 Thanks this. -

Well it's easy who are the food companies in Las Vegas, I know Sysco has a warehouse in Las Vegas so there's Sysco, Las Vegas. I'm sure US Foods has a pressance there as well. GFS were midwest/east coast we don't go out that far west that's out of our territory were not even in Minnesota.
What you do is drive by the restaurants and casino's late at night or early in the morning 4-5am and see who is delivering at the loading dock you'll see all kinds of rigs you'll probably see Sysco or US Foods or that one company from Los Angeles there's all sorts of them.
Also find out if Las Vegas has a food terminal or cold storage warehouse and on a regular week day around lunch time drive by the cold storage warehouse and take a note of all the day cab trucks you see.
Also try Martin Brower or Golden State Foods they do McDonalds and I'm sure they have a warehouse somewhere near by. -
No incidents, there is 1 with seniority that has been with him for years. He gets first dibs on anything coming in, and he has been taking what is there. I was laid off an IT job 2 years ago, it was Sr Level Position, problem is, everyone now requires a Bachelors Degree, I only have a figure it out yourself degree, which is apparently not good enough for the electronic screeners, I usually see a rejection within a few hours for "Failure to meet the minimum required educational degree".
I did apply at one place off Craigslist. The place I applied said the owner where I am working gave me a recommendation and a great review, but their insurer said I needed a full time behind the wheel position they could verify. I have a PSP with 1 entry from a Level 3 back in March, but the rig belonged to a mega, which raised a red flag with the insurer. They said the insurer was not comfortable with an inspection from a mega that normally reports via HireRight, but there is no HireRight Record, and the mega said I never worked there. They said to find a training company, and come back in 6 months.G13Tomcat Thanks this. -
I am 57 years old, I get the hard work part, I watch the guy hustling food into In N Out Burger the other day when it was almost 110 outside, he was maybe 30 at best, looked like he was going to drop where he stood. After seeing him, and he was in good shape, I wonder if I would make it past lunch.G13Tomcat Thanks this.

I sure know about getting RIF'd from the IT industry... in the late 90's, btw. Wishing you luck in your trucking endeavours, man. It'll happen. You CAN drive. Were I like Ridgeline or Cnsper or somebody with an extra truck, I'd trust you... just saying.
Btw: Bynum is hurting HARD for tanker guys..... could look into that. Pulling juice out of FL to "everywhere" ....UsualSuspect Thanks this.
